Periodic Vehicle Inspection and Istimara Renewal: The Online Steps

Mechanic inspecting a car engine

Periodic vehicle inspection (MVPI) is a key condition for renewing your vehicle registration (Istimara) in Saudi Arabia, and most of the paperwork is now online. Whether you are in Riyadh or any other region, Moaqeb helps with the electronic side only: help booking the appointment, checking requirements, online follow-up of the result and help renewing the Istimara on official platforms. To be clear from the start, we do not collect, drive or deliver vehicles. Taking the car to the inspection station is done by the owner or someone they choose.

What our government e-services cover for vehicles

  • Help booking the inspection: choosing a convenient station and slot on the approved inspection booking platform and guiding you through the booking until you receive confirmation.
  • Pre-appointment checks: reviewing key vehicle and owner details and flagging anything that could block renewal later.
  • Online follow-up of the result: confirming the result appears after the inspection and explaining any remarks.
  • Help with Istimara renewal: guiding you step by step through the renewal request on Absher once conditions are met, while Nafath sign-in, the one-time code and payment stay with you.
  • WhatsApp updates: telling you what has been done and what you need to do next.

To be clear: our work is fully electronic. We do not take the vehicle, move it or attend the station. Driving to the station and the technical inspection are handled by the owner or their authorized driver.

Step by step, from booking to renewal

  1. You send the details: plate number, registration type, owner details and the city where you prefer the inspection.
  2. We check readiness: valid insurance, and any unpaid violations or fees that could stop renewal.
  3. We help you book: we agree the station and time with you and guide you through the booking; you enter the one-time code sent to your phone to confirm it.
  4. You go to the station: you drive the car there at the booked time and the station carries out the inspection.
  5. We follow the result: we confirm the result shows electronically and explain any remarks.
  6. We help you renew the Istimara: once the conditions are met, we guide you through the renewal request on Absher, you pay the government fees yourself, and we check with you that the renewal shows.

Typical requirements for Istimara renewal

RequirementNote
Valid periodic inspectionThe result must be a pass and visible in the system.
Valid vehicle insuranceInsurance is linked electronically to the vehicle record.
Settled traffic violationsUnpaid violations can block renewal.
Renewal fees paidPaid to the authority through official channels.

These are general guidelines. The competent authority sets the final conditions based on the vehicle type and status.

What if the car fails the inspection?

The station lists the items that need fixing. Once the car is repaired at a workshop of your choice, we can book the re-inspection online, follow the new result and then help you renew the Istimara. We do not handle repairs or move the car to a workshop.

What the owner still does

  • Drives the car to the station at the booked time, or sends someone of their choice.
  • Fixes any technical remarks at a workshop they choose.
  • Signs in through Nafath and enters the one-time verification codes personally when needed. We never ask for passwords or codes.
  • Pays government fees and violations through official channels.

This split between what we help with and what stays with you applies to every online transaction; see how an online government transactions agent works.

Fees

Our service fee depends on the type of service and the requirements. Inspection and renewal fees are separate and paid to the relevant authorities. See our pricing page for details.
